FAQ's
Q. Do I have the right to choose the repair shop of my
choice? A: Yes, Georgia Law states that you have the right to take your
vehicle to the repair shop of your choice. Your insurance company cannot
require you to go to a particular repair facility.
Q: Why is an
insurance company recommending a repair facility to me? A: Some
insurance companies have "direct repair programs" set up with certain repair
facilities. In lieu of insurance companies sending work to these shops, the
shop will discount their labor and parts to the insurance company.
Q: Am I required by law to obtain more than one estimate? A:
No, you are not required by law to obtain more than one estimate or appraisal.
Q: Should the repair facility or the insurance company write the
estimate? A: Some insurance companies may want you to visit their
drive-in claims center to have the estimate written. You can do this, or you
may leave your car at our facility and ask the insurance company to inspect the
car here. Some insurance companies will request us to write the initial
estimate.
Q: Why are there differences in estimates? A:
Differences in repair estimates are common. A lower estimate may not include
all of the necessary work. If you are unsure about the differences please feel
free to ask.

ILLEGAL STEERING There are many methods
insurers use to carry out illegal steering: The insurance company tells the
customer that if the consumer does not use the insurer's DRP (Direct Repair
Program), the repairs may be delayed. Eagle Paint & Body takes pride on
delivering a quality repair in a timely manner on every car.
The
insurance company may also state they will not be responsible for additional
rental car expenses. If rental car coverage expires, Eagle Paint & Body
will provide the customer with a loaner car.
The insurance company
tells the consumer that the insurer will not guarantee the repairs unless the
work is done at the insurer's preferred shop or DRP. Eagle Paint & Body
provides a lifetime warranty on all repairs.
The insurance company
advises the consumer that the repairs will cost more if taken to the consumer's
chosen shop. Out of pocket expenses will not be incurred unless you request
original manufacturers parts (OEM) and the insurance company will only pay for
aftermarket parts.
Insurers may also tell consumers that the consumer
will be responsible for the difference. There never will be a difference unless
OEM parts are requested as stated above. |
